For The Boy I’ve Loved the Most

I don’t know if I’ll ever stop writing poems and essays about you but what I know to be fact is; it was a privilege to have loved you. 

There have been and will be many greats in my life but of you? Your soul shines brighter than most. Our bond was more than I could ever have measured at the time: my friend, my laugh, my smile. 

Kai the brilliant, the authentic, the imperfect, the genuine. I carry your song with me always. I did know a boy who was swallowed by the sun. He is happier in those rays, he smiles more in those rays, and he is free in those rays. 

Knowing you has been one of my greatest loves. It is because of you, I am able to love myself more, love my people freely, and love you effortlessly. You are my family, in this life and the next.
